YOUR GUIDE TO MOTHERS DAY
Let’s take a moment to think about your mum, grandmother, partner…. About what a SUPERWOMAN she is. All that love and care she has in the midst of cooking, cleaning, homework assisting, car pooling… you know what we’re talking about!
There really is no excuse not to make a fuss of her on Mother’s Day; Sunday 13th May. Take her somewhere special, buy her a little (or big!) gift, shower her with love. Sure, a big hug, a cuppa in bed and a homemade card will warm her heart. It absolutely will.
But, hey, you know what will really, really warm her heart… we have some ideas:
TAKE THE LADY OUT
Trust us, anything that involves making a mess in the kitchen on Mother’s Day is a no-no. Lunch out is the way to go! Look no further…
The Fold loves the sound of these (you’re going to want get in and book ASAP!):
A Special Mother’s Day at Taphouse, Moss Vale
One thing that will NEVER fail to impress; champagne and oysters! Oh yes!
Enjoy the ab-solut-ely delicious special menu designed with the special ladies in mind, and it starts off with a glass of French sparkling on arrival.
She (and you!) will enjoy three amazing courses, finishing with a whopping slice of "Mother's Love Cake". We’re pretty excited about this (maybe even more than the French bubbles). It’s made with love, of course, along with the Southern Highlands Brewing Co’s Godfather Porter, chocolate, fresh vanilla buttercream, cream, pistachios and fresh figs. OH MY.
AND, if your kids aren't the oysters and champagne type, then they also have a fab kids menu for the little ones.
Reservations are essential for this one. Bookings are for between midday and 6pm. Your mum is going to love lunch at the very cool Taphouse.

Treat her to a delicious meal at the lovely Feast at Berrima
Talk about showering her with love. The Mother’s Day special three-course menu at Feast at Berrima will, without a doubt, have her feeling the luurve.
Check out the beautiful menu, with four delicious choices for each course. We love it when we can’t decide what to order! It all sounds so yummy. Kids get a choice with their own menu too, which is always a winner.
The meals at Feast feature greens and veggies from their very own veggie garden on-site, we love that.
Located at the Alpaca Centre, Feast at Berrima is a perfect option. Combine lunch with a wander around beautiful Berrima and the lovely shops. What an absolutely wonderful agenda for her special day.
Mother’s Day at Feast is always a popular choice, so you’ll need to call them to make a reservation to avoid disappointment.
PAMPER HER WITH LOVE
Nothing says “I love you” quite like a little bit of pampering. It’s a gift that will never disappoint, ever.
Life’s little luxuries
Siva Beauty & Hair – Body & Soul is a lovely, sustainable salon in Mittagong where your mum can indulge in beauty and hair treatments, including facials, manni and peddis, and there’s a blow dry bar too.
The team at Siva have put together two luxurious packages especially for Mother’s Day.
An Ecococo Facial with Blow Dry treat - $80
This is a rare treat. A facial PLUS a blow dry - two of life’s little luxuries! Her skin and hair will be treated with beautiful organic coconut and she’ll feel AMAZING and so relaxed after this one. She’ll be one happy and relaxed mum.
Back scrub and Massage - $55
This is pure luxury! Treat mum to a back scrub and massage, plus she’ll be sent home with a beautiful scrub of her own. What a fab gift. Yes please.
The packages can be purchased as gift certificates or book her straight in. She’ll love it. And probably love you, just a little bit more.
Did someone say massage?
Thanaprathan Thai Massage and Spa in Mittagong have an awesome deal on from 1st May – 16th May – book a massage (min 1 hour – easy!) for you and your mum and receive $20 off. Get in touch quickly to book this special treat before it ends.
Thana Spa has a reputation for aaamazing massages and is reasonably priced too. They offer Thai massage (6o mins $70 / 90 mins $95) and a long list of other massages options too, including foot reflexology and hot stones. Oh the DECISIONS!
What a special way to treat your mum and spend quality time together. Head into Mittagong for a wander around the antique stores and cool shops, have a lovely lunch and then onto the massage. The perfect day out for just the two of you. And let’s not forget, this is one for you too… the sacrifices one makes…
EXPERIENCES LAST A LIFETIME
We’re big fans of giving an experience as a gift. Creating memories. Encouraging your mum to do something special for herself.
Getting in touch with her creative side
Get creative and buy mum a Sunday Sketch Session. She’ll get to explore her creativity (with a glass of wine in hand) in a one or a two-day class as she’s guided through a 3 hour still life drawing session with local artist Thomas Bucich at his White Barn Studio in Colo Vale.
She’ll leave with her drawing in hand and likely feeling a tad more relaxed and inspired than when she arrived!
Better yet; book a class for the both of you to do together. She will LOVE it. Memories in the making… that’s what it’s all about.
Say it with accessories
“I have too much jewellery” said no woman, ever.
Louisarose & Co is holding a special mother & child beading workshop this weekend on the 6th. You will each walk away having made some beautiful jewellery for yourselves. An experience + jewellery – our kind of gift.
If you can’t make the 6th, Louisarose & Co online store is a one-stop-shop for Mother’s Day gifts.
These seriously beautiful resin and acrylic earrings are $85
Double sided, 100% silk scarves, on sale at $95, down from $150
Brighten her day and make her smile with colourful, resin bangles $33-$48
NOTHING SAYS LOVE LIKE… UNWRAPPING A GIFT!
Buy her a statement piece
We’re a little bit in love with the new The South Store at The Acre, and we know we’re not the only ones.
Incredibly beautiful stuff! Trust us, you’ll earn some serious credit if you surprise her with a very cool and very stylish piece from The South Store.
Pop in and the lovely Sophie (she’s the one in the Insta pics) can help you choose some jewellery, clothing or accessories for your lovely lady. She is WORTH IT.
We know that Mums can sometimes be a little tricky to buy for, but Sophie is happy to exchange if Mum is not 100% in love. There is no doubt she will find plenty of other options she will fall in love with.
This is what we’re talking about:
The perfect package just for mum
You can’t top the excitement of opening a box FULL of pressies. Just for you. That’s why we love our local gift go-to, The Bespoke Gift Co. They put a whole lotta love and care into their packages, down to the hand-written note.
Choosing the perfect pressie for mum can be really hard. There’s a lot of pressure to make it special and meaningful. We get it. As it should be! The Bespoke Gift Co’s Mother’s Day catalogue will help make that process easier for you; we have no doubt you’ll find something in there for your mum or partner. Or you can give them a call on 1300 408 616 and they will create a custom box especially for your mum; you just need to tell them a little bit about her and they’ll do the rest (how cool is that!).
The gift packs range from $95 - $250 and they are chock-full of luxury. They really are something special & indulgent just for her.
Plus it’s free delivery Australia wide.
Fashion for her + accessories for home = happy mum
Head to Carousel Lifestyle at The Mill and you can grab mum some gorgeous stuff for her and for her home – covering all bases is always a smart idea!
Starting with stuff for her home; we think candles are always a welcome gift and these very cool copper Carousel candles in delicious fragrances at $60 are a no-brainer.
Getting mum / partner winter-ready should earn you some mega brownie points. And when we say winter-ready we mean furs (faux obvs), coats, hats, scarves and gloves. Trust us, this is the stuff she wants!
Don’t fret if the decisions are all a little too much for you! Brownie points definitely still count if you grab her a Carousel Lifestyle gift voucher; she will happily head in for a shopping sess and walk out with a bag full of goodies.
A sweaty Mother’s Day
It’s not every lady’s cup of tea, but if the lady in your life has been complaining she can’t find the time to look after herself, then a gym membership , some Yoga or Pilates class passes or personal training sessions could be a truly amazing gift for her.
Hint: only purchase this if she’s said she wants to go, otherwise things could get pretty awkward!
Here’s a place she’ll love. Balance By Design is a beautiful, sun-lit yoga, pilates and Gyrotonic studio in Mittagong. Gift your lady some passes and she’ll be a shiny new, calm, relaxed woman (by the way, Gyrotonic’s are the very-wonderfully-stretchy machines you may have heard about and trust us, they work wonders).
Have you considered golf? It’s something you can do together, she can do on her own or with her friends. It’s great exercise and is wonderfully social. The Bowral Golf Club has a spectacular course and a very active and social ladies golf calendar and an amazing deal on at the moment – check it out here.
Here’s one for the mums who hate cooking.
Hate is such a harsh word. How about ‘over it’? Uninspired? Bored?
How about giving mum / partner / nanna a day, wait, make that a week (a month?!) off cooking. Not. Joking.
The Dinner Ladies deliver home-cooked style meals to your door. They’re additive and preservative free (so mum won’t worry about harming her precious ones), yummy, freshly prepared and frozen. Family-favourites like lasagne are available each week and then there is a new range of seasonal meals to choose from too.
Wait till you see the pure JOY in her eyes. No cooking = no cleaning up. Convenience. Easy. Oooooh the jooooy.
Of course, it goes without saying! You can feel 100% confident that your mum / partner / grandmother will love receiving a bunch of flowers. Order with a local florist now in time for the big day.
Best of luck organising a very special day. Just remember…she’s a SUPERWOMAN and deserves it!
