GOOD VIBES // 2021 Winterfest Gets Awesome Boost Thanks To $37k CommBank Grant
Bundanoon’s Biggest Street Party and Week-Long Event Celebrating Winter Will Live On In 2021
Well, THIS is fab news!! The Bundanoon Community Association and the Winterfest Organising Committee have just announced that Winterfest is the recipient of a grant from the CommBank Bush Fire Recovery Fund.
Winterfest is an awesome week-long festival that starts with a big street party (sooo much fun!) and serves up a week of super-interesting and unique workshops, events, classes and experiences for all ages.
Now, it got cancelled this year because of COVID, of course. But prior to that, the bush fires had impacted lots of local businesses too, so it was super-hard for the committee to find sponsors and get financial local support because everyone was feeling the brunt of the drought and bushfires.
Enter stage right…… the CommBank Bush Fire Recovery Fund.
The fund has been set up to support bushfire affected communities, to help them recover from the horrors of what last summer served up, by strengthening social connectedness and promoting emotional well-being.
So THAT means, the Winterfest Organising Committee can keep this popular community event going next year! How good is that?
“After the horrendous summer, we really wanted to create an opportunity for the community to reconnect and recover from a very trying period,” says Convenor of the Winterfest Organising Committee and father of Bundanoon’s famous mini-donks, James Fulford-Talbot.
And now they can!
“We are so grateful to the Commonwealth Bank for this support. This very generous grant means we can stage a memorable festival in 2021 and bring the whole community together to celebrate after all we’ve endured,” James says.
Nice one, guys – we can’t wait and will be there with our bells (and beanies, scarved and gloves) on!
