Golfing Highlands Style
January 27, 2018
The Highlands has long been a destination for golf lovers, and for good reason. We've got some spectacular courses and club facilities.
If you've been toying with the idea of a game of golf, The Highlands has a golf course to suit every level, with some of the most affordable golf courses in the state.
For the serious golfer there is Mount Broughton (Sutton Forest), which presents one of the most challenging yet beautiful golf courses we have in the Highlands. Even the low handicapper will loose a few balls. Ranked in the top 25 resort courses in Australia, you're going to want to play here!
Moss Vale Golf Course is undoubtably one of the most beautiful layouts in The Highlands. You go from treelined fairways, to natural water courses and stunning Highlands rural views. All levels of golfer will find Moss Vale enjoyable, but for that really good score “you gotta stay out of the trees”.
Bowral Golf Club situated right in the heart of Bowral is considered one of the best country courses in NSW. The small greens will challenge even the straightest hitters. The course, as well as the 115 year old club house, provides the ultimate in traditional Highlands country charm.
Now, onto the reason we know the majority of golfers play golf… the 19th hole (aka the club house)!
Moss Vale’s club house is beautiful, outdoor and indoor dining, there is a main bar and Dormie House bistro. All positioned so you can enjoy the views over the course.
The Gibraltar Hotel's Country Club has absolutely everything you could possibly ask for. A great bar with live music throughout the week, a beautiful restaurant, not to mention the hotel and day spa. The Country Club is perfect for corporate events or for a group when not everyone wants to play golf. They have lots to offer aside from the golf!
If you are looking for a classic country club house, Bowral Golf Club is the place for you. With open fires in Winter and a gorgeous open terrace for post golf beers in Summer, overlooking the fairways. You can graze on a snack or a more substantial meal.
The Highlands has five 18 hole and two 9 hole courses, which are all open to the public and all offer lessons by appointment.
Most clubs hold competitions on a weekday and a Saturday, so there may be times you won’t be able to get onto the course. But just give the pro shop a call and they will give you all the info on the days you can play.
'Neat Golf Attire' is the dress code required for all Highlands clubs. This is collared shirts, tailored pants or shorts, no denim for the guys. And the same for the ladies, neat casual.
Below are our seven local courses:
9 hole, par 32 golf course.
18 hole, par 71 golf course.
18 hole, par 69 golf course.
18 hole, par 70 golf course.
18 hole par 70 golf course.

Once you have tried out all the Highlands has to offer, the clubs are always looking for new members, of all ages, from juniors right up to those in their twilight years. Gone are the days of snooty, over priced, hard to join, golf clubs. You will find that they all offer different options within their membership packages, so you will definitely find one that works for you.
